Leicester Multi-Temperature Logistics Hub Completed

The first development at Leicester Distribution Park is a great success and strategically important for Samworth Brothers Supply Chain.

UMC Architects were appointed as architects by Graftongate Developments and Samworth Brothers Supply Chain in late 2015, for the design of the base-build and fit-out of this new facility. Following a successful planning consent co-ordinated by UMC, work started on site in October 2016 with Winvic Construction being awarded the contract. It is the first building on the new Leicester Distribution Park, a site owned by Blackrock Investment Management.

The new facility consists of a number of differing temperature chambers providing various levels of chilled and frozen storage for a range of meat and vegetable products. At 15m clear internally, the 190,000sq.ft building accommodates cross-docking and a 3-storey office and welfare block. External facilities include a vehicle fuel and wash and a stand-alone vehicle maintenance unit.

Construction of the facility was achieved in accordance with proposed budget and timescales.
