Prestigious development for the council is complete for traders’ fit-out.
UMC Architects were appointed by IM Properties to design the relocated wholesale markets facility for Birmingham City Council at the Hub, Witton. The project allows traders to vacate the current city centre location.
After consulting with the council and traders’ representatives at a series of stakeholder workshops, UMC worked closely with the client and consultant team to design the new development, which will provide over 60 traders with a state of the art premises. The new facility provides an internal buyer’s walkway, which is flanked by trader units and display areas, where various market produce will be traded, including flowers, fruit, vegetables, fresh meat and fish.
Work on the project commenced on site in late 2015, with UMC working alongside Benniman Construction to deliver the detailed design. The development was successfully handed over within budget and timescale.
