Dominik Niewiadomski’s recent academic project envisions the architectural future of filmmaking through a new film campus design for Nottingham Trent University (NTU). The proposal addresses the industry's evolving demands, especially the growing influence of artificial intelligence on contemporary production.
A Hybrid Campus Model
The scheme presents a hybrid campus that blends academic learning with hands-on industry experience. Its architectural layout reflects the three core stages of filmmaking: pre-production, production, and post-production. Two academic buildings, positioned on either side of a central public hub, accommodate pre- and post-production activities. This shared hub fosters collaboration between students, staff, and industry professionals. Below a raised plinth, flexible production spaces house workshops and studios, forming the operational core of the campus.
Integrating Education and Practice
By integrating education with practice, the design offers students direct access to active production environments. It encourages innovation, supports creative exchange, and prepares students for a fast-changing creative landscape.
We’re proud to share Dominik’s ambitious and insightful work as part of our celebration of emerging architectural talent.
