Burton Gateway Unit 6 comprises a bespoke chilled fulfilment centre for end user Gousto. The 323,617 sq ft unit is entirely bespoke to fulfil the needs of Gousto’s business which entails recipe boxes to be picked, packed and shipped throughout the UK.

Originally an old gravel quarry infilled with fly-ash (i.e. ash from the coal fired power station that used to be across the other side of the river), the site is an excellent example of good use of brownfield land and will bring an improvement to what was there previously. There were about 5000 foundation piles driven into the ground before the build commenced.

The site offers 512 Car parking spaces and 50 HGV parking spaces. In addition, there are 20 standard loading docks, 2 euro docks and 4 Level Access docks.

A number of valuable Sustainability criteria have been met such as a status of BREEAM Excellent and EPC A+. These were achieved through the incorporation of recycled materials, energy-efficient hybrid air source heat pumps and EV charging points amongst others.

The interior was fitted out in line with St Modwen’s 2022 Building Code.

UMC Architects were appointed by St Modwen and novated to Readie Construction Ltd who were the Main Contractor.
