UMC Architects began working on the project in early 2013, producing the concept designs for the occupier’s consideration, incorporating the optimal racking configurations and maximising efficiency of the available land. Designs were then produced for the approval of the DWC planning authorities and construction finally commenced in late 2014.
The 460m x 204m facility has been built by Amana Contracting with UMC Architects providing a design review service with monthly site inspections and reporting. All parties are delighted with the successful delivery of the project.
The new distribution centre will service existing and proposed IKEA stores throughout the region, including The UAE, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and Jordan.
