URBN, Plot 112, Peterborough Gateway

As masterplanners for the Peterborough Gateway Development, UMC Architects were responsible for the initial concept design of a new 640,00sqft mechanised distribution hub for multi-national retailer URBN on plot 112, before being novated to undertake the detailed design of both the base build and fit out contracts. The project which boasts a clear internal height of 18.2m, is the seventh successfully delivered project by UMC Architects at the development.

The scheme includes a 26,100sqft two storey office/management area including roof top terrace and staff gym, with a third floor of office/management facilities providing flexible training rooms that can convert from one to two rooms.

UMC Architects were also appointed to carry out the detailed design of the occupiers operational fit out of the facility which includes 106,400sqft two storey steel/concrete mezzanine structure designed to accommodate a potential future third floor of office expansion.

During construction, eight separate early access areas were provided within the warehouse to allow URBN to commence installation of their Stingray Shuttle System, Mini Load Rack and Conveyor System. Externally, the project is made up of a 333,000sqft yard that provides a 350 bay car park and access to the 36 dock doors with levellers.

UMC Architects supported Main Contractor Winvic Construction throughout the detailed design phases of the project which was completed on time within a 58 week build programme.
