As masterplanners for the development, UMC Architects were appointed by IM Properties to undertake initial feasibility designs for approval before commencing with the detailed design of the scheme.

The 244,862sqft facility has two market halls and includes 78 units selling fruit and vegetables, meat, poultry, fish and flowers, along with nine warehouses, café and management offices all designed to suit the tenants requirements.

The bespoke wholesale market scheme is one of the largest integrated wholesale markets in Europe and allows Birmingham’s traders to provide fresh produce to restaurants, hotels, fast food outlets and local retailers across the Midlands and Wales.

UMC Architects worked alongside Benniman Construction on the detailed design of the completed facility which was handed over both within budget and agreed timescales.
