UMC Architects announce promotions

UMC Architects are delighted to announce 7 new promotions;

Alastair Longden, Chris Allwood, Dean Butler and Graham Mackfall have been promoted to Director, Morgan Bailey has been promoted to Associate Director, James MacDonald has been promoted to Associate/BIM Lead and Mark Thomas has been promoted to Senior Architect.

These promotions represent the latest step in the ongoing growth strategy for the business and are in recognition of each individuals’ achievements and contribution to the practice.

Alastair is a chartered Architect who joined UMC Architects in 2014. Alastair is responsible for overseeing key Client accounts and a number of our high-profile strategic masterplan developments. He is passionate about design with an unwavering desire to add value to projects throughout concept and design delivery.

Since graduating in 2004, Chris has been instrumental in leading UMC’s dedicated in-house feasibility team which are invaluable in supporting key clients and providing design excellence at the conceptual stage of new projects. Chris specialises in the master planning of new strategic development sites and consistently offers a vision for design quality whilst maximising development potential.

Dean heads up our Manchester office and is responsible for directing the output and developing new business in the North West whilst successfully cementing our strategic commitment to the region. His hands-on approach to all aspects of the architectural process is invaluable in supporting key clients through conceptual stages to design and delivery.

Graham joined UMC Architects in 2015 and has since demonstrated creative abilities which complement his technical expertise across several flagship schemes for the practice, most notably, the ongoing Sky Studios project in Elstree.

Morgan’s expertise lies in the design, development and construction of complex schemes which has been most evident during the recent completion of a new campus distribution development for Howdens Joinery. Morgan is driven by a desire to achieve design quality and consistency throughout all aspects of the architectural process.

James MacDonald offers an established knowledge of Building Information Modelling [BIM] and related technologies. James has been able to call on his experience in supporting clients identify their BIM implementation requirements whilst also playing a lead role in the advancement of our inhouse BIM expertise, providing a strategic direction for all internal development and training.

After joining the practice in 2012, Mark combined part-time Architectural study with career progression becoming a chartered Architect in 2018. Mark has since played a pivotal role in supporting key client accounts providing design and technical solutions in a commercially responsive way. Mark is also a lead figure in our student mentoring programme.

We would like to congratulate and thank these team members for their outstanding performance and deserved promotions. Their hard work and dedication has provided a valuable service to our clients and to the practice.
