Works commence at Springfield Park

UMC Architects are proud to have been appointed by Royal London Asset Management to undertake the detailed architectural design of the latest development in DPD’s growing network of satellite distribution facilities across the UK.

The proposed unit at Springfield Business Park, Chelmsford, represents the first commission for UMC Architects with Royal London Asset Management and becomes the 8th ‘superhub’ scheme designed by the practice for the UK’s fastest-growing major parcel delivery company, having previously been involved with the delivery of units in Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Lincoln, Raunds and Swansea.

The new purpose built 60,000sqft facility is fitted with state-of-the-art, fully automated sorting conveyers and has the capacity to handle 6,000 packages an hour.

UMC Architects were delighted to welcome Chelmsford Mayor Bob Massey as enabling works got underway in the summer 2019 and are supporting Main Contractor Readie Construction through to completion in early 2020.
